About CEV

Circular Economy Victoria is an independent not-for-profit organisation that works to catalyse bottom-up action in support of the transition towards a more circular economy in Victoria. We envision a World where all people can live within a safe and just space in balance with the Planet. Our mission helps realise this regenerative vision by empowering every Victorian to: experience their life through a circular lens; develop their own journey to circularity; activate their local circular ecosystems.

In support of our mission, CEV designs, develops, and delivers a variety of education, collaboration and action-oriented programs. All programs are brought to life in a highly collaborative manner with a diverse and growing list of project partners.

 

Your role in the CEV team

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Volunteer Board Member to support the ongoing strategic direction and governance of Circular Economy Victoria Inc.

As a Circular Economy Victoria Board Member, you will learn how CEV works to bring people together to use the circular economy body of knowledge to solve some of the toughest challenges of our time. You will also be at the leading edge of circular economy thinking in Australia and be a part of a vibrant and dedicated community.

You are a systems thinker with high levels of empathy. On the content level, you have a base understanding and high level of curiosity of the circular economy body of knowledge. You are reliable and driven by a spirit of collaboration, constantly challenging yourself and others to innovate for a thriving economy, society, and planet.

What we offer you

For this role, we are offering an opportunity to help shape the future direction of Circular Economy Victoria. We offer in depth training in the circular economy to help you build a foundation for future leadership in the transition to a more circular economy. Applicants from all parts of Victoria are welcome.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Attend monthly Board meetings

  • Attend Annual General Meeting (AGM)

  • Attend Special Resolution meetings

  • Board members must become familiar with the CEV Rules and the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012

  • The Board is collectively responsible for ensuring that the Association complies with the Act and that individual members of the Board comply with the Rules of CEV

  • Board members must exercise their powers and discharge their duties with reasonable care and diligence

  • Board members must exercise their powers and discharge their duties— (a) in good faith in the best interests of the Association; and (b) for a proper purpose

  • Board members and former Board members must not make improper use of— (a) their position; or (b) information acquired by virtue of holding their position—so as to gain an advantage for themselves or any other person or to cause detriment to the Association

  • Board members must perform any other duties imposed from time to time by resolution at a general meeting

Essential skills and competencies

  • Live in or have strong connections to Victoria

Preferred skills and competencies

  • Previous experience on a not-for-profit Board in Victoria
